Why this matters

Connection
comes first.

Young people grow when they feel connected, valued, and motivated by something that matters to them.

Campus Connect Coaching pairs high school student-athletes with college fellows for academic coaching, shared experiences, and leadership development. The fellows receive professional coaching too, creating a pathway for learning in both directions.

“Build relationships that make everyone want to come back.”Our first objective
01

Academic success

Build study habits, set personal goals, and strengthen academic confidence.

02

Personal development

Practice responsibility, communication, initiative, and follow-through.

03

Leadership

Make decisions, contribute to a shared project, and help others succeed.

04

Future opportunities

Explore college, STEM, careers, and new professional connections.

The first experience

Small by design.
Built to learn.

A focused pilot gives eight young people room to build trust, pursue meaningful goals, and learn together.

One connected team

The intended first cohort includes five Latitude High School basketball student-athletes and three college fellows, preferably UC Berkeley STEM students. Each fellow will build a primary relationship with one or two scholars while supporting the whole group.

Participant recruitment and coordination are planned. Latitude High School and UC Berkeley are not confirmed institutional partners.

Eight weeks, with purpose

Planned January 11–March 7, 2027. Preparatory relationship gatherings are planned for November and early December 2026, subject to coordination.

The experience combines approximately two in-person gatherings and two short virtual meetings each month, with individual support, development plans, a collaborative project, and college or career exposure.
